Dear Parents/Guardians,

Many scholars believe the book of Mark was the earliest written Gospel. Mark was Barnabas' cousin and the church in Jerusalem sometimes gathered in his mother’s house. Mark recorded the first-hand accounts of Peter’s time with Jesus. Mark sought to encourage his audience to repent and respond in faith to Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man. This week, boys and girls explored the first chapter of the book of Mark. In one chapter, Mark recorded the baptism of Jesus, His temptation in the wilderness, the calling of His disciples, and Jesus’ ministry of preaching and healing. The Text Truth is based on Jesus’ words in Mark 1:15. Read these words together and talk about what it means to repent and believe the good news of Jesus. Then discuss the questions on the back of this week’s Family Card. You can also check out more family resources for this week at Explore the Bible: At Home.
