Dear Parents/Guardians,
This week, girls and boys explored Matthew’s record of Jesus’ genealogy at the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew wrote to a Jewish audience and one of his priorities was helping the people understand that Jesus was the promised Messiah/Christ. Matthew also demonstrated through this list of family names that Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s covenant promises to Abraham and David. Guide family members to examine the list of names in Matthew 1:1-17. Invite everyone to share what they remember about some of the Bible people that are listed.
